Learn more about becoming a Promise Teacher

NW PROMISE PARTNERS WITH DISTRICTS TO HELP ENSURE THAT EVERY STUDENT IS EQUIPPED TO PURSUE THE CAREER AND COLLEGE PATH OF THEIR CHOOSING.

NW PROMISE PROVIDES:

  • Sponsored, transferable dual credit options to help students recognize their college and career potential

  • Stipends and support to teachers interested in offering sponsored dual-credit courses

  • Resources for field trips and other career and college exposure opportunities


WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Actively participate in NW Promise content specific PLCs (3-4 PLC meetings, typically 4-8 hours each, throughout the year)

  • Inform and recruit students to participate in your dual credit course

  • Support students in course college registration process

  • Advise students of their progress and credit options in the course

  • With support from NW Promise, submit grades for dual credit to the partnering post-secondary institution according to deadlines and online student management systems


COURSE OFFERINGS

NW Promise is currently recruiting teachers to offer sponsored dual credit for:

  • Biology 103 Anatomy & Physiology aligns with A&P

  • Biology 200 Medical Terminology aligns with A&P

  • Economics 202 Macroeconomics aligns with Economics

  • Math 111 College Algebra aligns with Pre-Calculus- semester 1

  • Math 112 Trigonometry aligns with Pre-Calculus- semester 2

  • Writing 121 English Composition aligns with Senior English (new offering for 2019-20)

 

TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be approved and employed by their high school administrator

  • Complete NW Promise High School Faculty application

  • Master’s degree in Education/Teaching and Bachelor’s degree in the subject area or related field


TEACHER STIPEND

  • $500 gross annual stipend for teaching 1 NW Promise course with 1 -2 sections

  • $750 gross annual stipend for teaching 1+ NW Promise course with 3+ sections

  • $1000 gross annual stipend for teaching 2+ NW Promise course with 3+ sections
