With over 20 years of experience in higher education access and matriculation, NWRESD’s new Post-Secondary Pathways Director Tara Cooper brings a passion for partnerships that create clear post-secondary paths for students, particularly first-generation and underserved student populations. Tara is excited to continue the work of strengthening our partnerships and increasing dual credit access and post-secondary opportunities for students in our region.

Deanna works to support and expand accelerated college opportunities to students by recruiting high school teachers and schools to participate in NW Promise, collaborating with the college faculty to plan and facilitate Professional Learning Community (PLC), and implementing systems and processes for the day-to-day NW Promise program operations. Deanna is passionate about providing equitable access to high quality college programing and reaching historically underserved students, including students of color and first-generation college goers.

Betsy Brower, Support Specialist

Betsy works to provide the behind the scenes support for the NW Promise team. She provides administrative assistance around the partnership and district contracts as well as helping teachers and students with program fee processes. Betsy builds and maintains strong working relationships with district fiscal teams, collaborates with college and high school faculty, and supports students in accessing Promise credit. Betsy is passionate about improving the future for the students in our region.

Raya Nichols, College and Career Pathways Coordinator

Raya recently joined the NWRESD team in partnership with the Hillsboro School District. The vision for this collaboration is to support high schools in our region working to develop or expand their college and career pathway opportunities for students. Having previously worked to start and grow a business program, Raya knows firsthand the challenge of this work and value of this work. Raya is passionate about supporting educators as they navigate the steps to achieve a vision that benefits students, builds robust programs, achieves equitable access, engages community partners, and inspires students to be well prepared for their post-secondary experiences.
